Too Much Data, Not Enough Clarity
The original dashboard presented a high volume of financial data without a clear prioritization system. Portfolio metrics, asset tables, and secondary widgets competed for attention, increasing cognitive load.
Key issues included:
Limited visual hierarchy between primary and secondary modules
Dense asset tables that reduced scanability
Competing panel weights across the layout
Inconsistent contrast within the dark interface
In a trading environment where speed and clarity are critical, this structure slowed interpretation and reduced confidence.
How I Approached the Redesign
The redesign began with a structured UX audit to identify hierarchy conflicts and usability gaps.
Key steps included:
Evaluating layout structure and module prioritization
Analyzing competitor trading dashboards for best practices
Reworking information architecture to improve grouping and flow
Iterating on spacing, typography, and contrast for clarity
Wireframes were refined before moving into high-fidelity design to ensure structural improvements were validated before visual polish.
How I Solved the Redesign
The redesign introduced a structured hierarchy that clearly separates core portfolio insights from supporting modules.
Improvements Included:
Establishing the portfolio balance and performance chart as the primary focal point
Refining the asset table for improved vertical scanning
Softening secondary panels to reduce visual competition
Optimizing contrast and spacing for improved readability in dark mode
The result is a calmer, more intentional interface that supports faster financial analysis.
What Changed (and Why it Matters)
The redesign introduced a structured hierarchy that clearly separates core portfolio insights from supporting modules.
The final dashboard delivers:
Establishing the portfolio balance and performance chart as the primary focal point
Refining the asset table for improved vertical scanning
Softening secondary panels to reduce visual competition
Optimizing contrast and spacing for improved readability in dark mode
